Shane Warne and Shilpa Shetty to Endorse a New Real Money Online Poker Site in India

Australian cricket legend, Shane Warne, and former Celebrity Big Brother winner, Shilpa Shetty, are a few celebrities who have signed up to endorse and play on a new online poker site in India.

The online poker market in India will grow by one on 15 September when makes its debut. The real money online poker site is heralded as the first real money poker offering in India fully endorsed by celebrities, and where celebrities will sit down and play. falls under the umbrella of companies operated by Satyug Gold Pvt Ltd., an enterprise created by the British-born entrepreneur Raj Kundra.

So who are these celebrities?

The most prominent in that part of the world is Shilpa Shetty, who happens to be Kundra’s wife. The Bollywood star is well-known in the UK after she won Celebrity Big Brother 5 in a controversial contest in 2007 after Danielle Lloyd, Jo O’Meara, and the late Jade Goody were accused of bullying Shetty. The storm kicked off such a fuss in India, sponsors Carphone Warehouse severed ties with the show.

Another celebrity who is involved in the new poker site is Shane Warne. The Australian cricket legend and former 888 Poker Ambassador is well known to the Kundra’s through their association with the Indian Premier League (IPL). In 2009, Kundra and Shetty acquired a stake in the IPL side Rajasthan Royals, and a few years later a panel appointed by the Supreme Court in India banned the team from the IPL for two years over alleged match fixing. Kundra was also banned from all cricket related activities for life.

Other celebrities linked to the site are actors Harman Baweja & Shahid Kapoor; former cricketer Rohan Gavaskar, and the actress Minissha Lamba. The new site offers a range of videos featuring the mentioned celebrities giving poker tips to new sign ups.

The news of Kundra’s foray into the real money online poker market comes a mere days after he stopped offering real money options on his other gambling website According to a piece that appeared in the site removed real money options after the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) starting asking questions of the legality of operating a real money stock picking service and promoting it as a game of skill.
