PartyPoker, the online poker brand of bwin.party, has been forced to postpone its ‘PokerFest’ series of events due to technical difficulties.

The 80-event tournament series had been due to begin on September 27, with $2.5 million (€2.2 million) on offer in guaranteed prizes.

However, PartyPoker has opted to suspend the start of the series until October 25 and said it will publish a revised list of event in due course.

PartyPoker cited software updates implemented last week as the reason behind the postponement, stating that such issues “are currently being resolved until they are rectified”.

As a result of the postponement, competing players will be compensated with a $50,000 freeroll.

Golan Shaked, director of Games Labels for bwin.party, said in a statement: “I apologise to our loyal players for having to delay this highly-anticipated event.

“With a total prize pool of $2.5 million up for grabs, we are not willing to take even the slightest risk with our players’ experience during the 80 events that make up Pokerfest.

“We understand that the postponement is frustrating and disappointing to you, our loyal customers, but providing a service that gives you the best experience possible is our number one priority.”
