A Lottoland customer has claimed what is thought to be the world’s highest-ever online lottery pay-out after scooping €90m ($106m) on its EuroJackpot game.

A 36-year-old German, named only as Christina, won the jackpot after placing a bet via her mobile. The cleaner had only signed up to Lottoland two weeks before.

Lottoland chief executive Nigel Birrell called the win a “breakthrough” moment for the online gaming industry.

He said: “More and more players from around the world are waking up to the fact that they can bet on the biggest jackpots the world has to offer at Lottoland.

“This record €90m win is a breakthrough moment both for our business and the industry as a whole, as it is the largest jackpot pay-out ever across the online gaming and lotto industry. We look forward to breaking more records in the future.”

Lottoland, which offers betting on many major lotteries including US PowerBall, US MegaMillions, EuroMillionaire and Spain’s El Gordo, said the huge eight-figure pay-out is backed by its own insurance infrastructure.

Lottoland is active in 13 markets and claims to have more than eight million customers worldwide.
